Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)

AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages)AMP is Fast

Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) have been around for a couple of years now. Developed by Google, AMP pages are fast, really fast when they are accessed from Google’s mobile search results page because Google caches AMP pages and serves them from their Content Delivery Network (CDN).

AMP SEO Boost

If your site has AMP pages, Google gives a SEO boost to those pages, i.e. your site will rank higher in search results. Google bills AMP pages as “user-first” websites. Essentially, if your website is fast, particularly on mobile, it’s a much better experience for your user. You also have a better chance that your users will stay on your website because slow loading websites are one of the major reasons that users will quickly abandon a site to look elsewhere.

Sweet Thursday’s WordPress starter theme now has AMP page capabilities. After a few minor changes your WordPress pages, posts, categories and tags will be “AMPed”. For more specialized pages I can easily create custom AMP pages to meet your needs. This does not get rid of your current website, it is simply an addition to it.

Easy Updating

You won’t have to add separate content, your WordPress content (with some exceptions, forms for example) will be converted over to AMP pages. When you change content on your home page, it will automatically change on your AMP home page. For complicated forms made with plugins users are simply redirected to your non-AMP page to fill them out.

Already, have a WordPress website? Sweet Thursday’s AMP system can be installed directly into your theme and can be modified to match the look and feel of your site.
