In addition to working with other web developers on numerous other sites programming, building sites from designer's comps, problem-solving, customizing CMS systems and performing maintenance and updates the following sites and/or projects have been developed solely by Sweet Thursday Web Development unless stated otherwise.
Some Sites
Helpyoutrade.com: This is a large site for traders and investors with lots of custom-coded applications: email feature, blog feature, admin content management system, discussion feature for stocks, a question and answer area, search features and a lot more. With a few exceptions all the features on this site were developed by Sweet Thursday Web Development. Take a look around.
Photokunst: Photokunst specializes in photo sales, licensing and exhibitions of fine art photography for galleries and museums. This site was created in conjunction with Tamara Spurr Design. Sweet Thursday Web Development created and programmed a customized administrative backend area that is responsible for most of the content on photokunst.
In the administrative area an unlimited number of artists can be added with information about each artist including an unlimited number of collections. These collections can have an unlimited number of photos and can be organized in any order administrative users desire. Artists and photographs can be made "active" or "inactive" so that areas of the site can be worked on over time and not added until the user desires. Additional information that can be added includes prices of prints, sizes of prints, copyrights and much more. All this information automatically populates the public portions of the website. CMS systems like this are very powerful, easy to use and can be tailored, as this one is, to the unique needs of your business.
UW Sports Ministry: Sweet Thursday Web Development handled implementing the design from comps and creating a custom-designed CMS system that handles most of the content on this site (this is another tableless site created with CSS). Dropdown links are automatically generated when new pages are added and these links can be put in any order. The photo gallery on the site uses Flash and can handle hundreds of albums with hundreds of pictures which can all be managed via an administrative web interface. Sweet Thursday also skinned and customized Zen Cart for the store section of this site and programmed the video Flash player on the home page which, like the photo gallery, is managed from the administrative backend. This site was created in conjunction with VisionServe which handled the design and project management.
Conways' Tennis: Like many sites developed by Sweet Thursday Web Development this will be a growing site that in the future will incorporate database integration for administrative tasks that will help these clients spend more time teaching tennis and less time at their desks. This is a tableless site that validates as CSS.
Sites made without tables have several advantages. It is far easier to make sitewide changes with tableless sites. For example, let's say you loved your site as it was initially designed, but a year or two later you want to make significant changes. With a tableless site these changes can be made easier and more quickly using CSS. Tableless sites also allow, in most cases, for faster download times. For your clients or customers with accessibilty issues (these people often use screen readers or view sites with CSS turned off) a tableless, CSS site is far easier for them to navigate and to understand the structure.
Frank Macchia: Frank Macchia is a grammy nominated musician. He has orchestrated music for numerous films (Superman Returns, 300, The Bee Movie, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Transformers, Wild Hogs,
The Fantastic Four) and performed with Los Lonely Boys, Billy Childs, Bonnie Raitt, Brian Wilson, Chuck Mangione, Clare Fischer, Danny Ganz, Dionne Warwick, Ella Fitzgerald and many more.
This site was developed in conjunctioin with Mansker Consulting and Tamara Spurr Design. Sweet Thursday Web Development was responsible for building this tableless site with CSS and programming a Content Management System (CMS) to handle current news items that can be entered easily by the client. The extensive use of background images via CSS helped take this site from the design stage to the World Wide Web.
Nationwide Health Properties: Sweet Thursday Web Development was responsible for programming the dropdown menus and a form that gathers information from users. Sweet Thursday also built out the pages for this site and added the content. This site was a collaborative effort in conjunction with Tamara Spurr Design, Two Creative, MarketGarden and the Hersh Corporation.
Driven by Pain: Rock group's web site with Flash work.
Edblandford.com: A simple portfolio site for a car designer.
National Conference on Inclusion: This is a basic, multi-page html site designed and programmed by Sweet Thursday Web Development. In all my sites, even simple ones like this, I use CSS and PHP "includes" to make site-wide changes of text, text-colors, background colors and even layout a much easier process. To give you an idea of how this can work. Take a look at the image to your right. This was the site in 2007. Then visit the actual which has been altered for a new look this year (2008).
Christmas on the Promenade: A basic, multi-page web site for Christmas on the Promenade, a San Diego event sponsored by KIT: Kids Included Together.
Mark Napoli: Pastel Artist: A basic HTML site for pastel artist Mark Napoli. I designed and programmed this site.
In Memory of Robert E. Schalles: I built this site in memory of my grandfather who fought in World War I, the Great War as it was called before World War II.
Exclusive Cabinets: A simple four page CSS site built without tables. Developed in association with Kimberly Jones Communications Management.
Dave Pinnegar: This is a simple one page site for a real estate broker. This site was created without tables and validates as CSS.
Kimberley Jones Communications Management: This site utilizes images as links. This is a great way to personalize your site. It used to be that the downside to using images as links was that they were not seen by Google and other search engines. Whenever I use images as links or logos I also code using a combination of HTML and CSS so that Google and other search engines will see the text to your links and the branding for your company. This also makes your web site accessible for those with disabilities. This site was also created without tables and validates as CSS. Tableless sites styled with CSS are far easier to maintain and easier to redesign if you decide you want changes.
The Frankenstein Expedition: This is one of my more eccentric clients. This site was built without tables and validates as CSS. The client wanted a site up quickly with the idea of more content being added when he is ready. One of the great things about web sites is that they can be changed and added to at anytime. You do not have to have a complete idea before creating your presence on the web.
Austin Dermatology Center: This is a simple one page site for Dr. Erik Austin. This site was designed by the client. If you have a strong idea of what you'd like your web site to look like I can build it to your specifications.
Lively Latin: This is an educational site using Moodle as its basis. Moodle is easily installed and extremely powerful for anyone considering teaching classes on-line. You can accept PayPal payments, upload images and create multiple classes with multiple teachers. There are many, many possibilities with this program and it is completely free. The Chameleon Theme has been customized in this site.
John Blair Appraisals: This is a simple informational site for a real estate appraiser. It is also set up to accept credit card payments via PayPal.
Working Wellness: This is a basic html site (with a php "Email a Friend" feature). This was designed and programmed by Sweet Thursday Web Development.
Mygetleadsrewards.com: This is a database integrated site that I programmed (the client designed it). This site collects all the information filled out in the forms and stores it in a database. After users fill out the form they are automatically emailed a message. The back end (admin area) allows the administrator to change the headline of the main page at will and save previous headlines, change the emails sent out at will and save previous emails, view all information by month and year or search the database by phone number, name, etc. and all this information can be exported in an Excel document format.
Executive Technology Services: Two pages (First Page | Second Page): The two pages here were designed by Tamara Spurr Design and programmed by Sweet Thursday Web Development. If you have a designer or are a designer yourself I can put your vision into a website, down to the minutest details.
Credit Report Atlas: I programmed an admin area on this site accessible only to employees. It has both an area for the administrator and members. It keeps track of clients and orders, shows statistics for how each member is doing, can search through clients and orders and export search results or all records in an Excel spreadsheet.
How to Stay Married and Love It: Another CSS site modeled after sites that the client liked. This is another great way to get what you want into your designs: let me see the websites on the web that you like. We can then use these design ideas as a basis and then add in your likes and desires. This site also incorporates video and on-line payments via PayPal. This site was built in association with Kimberly Jones Communications Management.
The Land Design Collaborative: This is a FLASH site I programmed.
Sweet Thursday Web Development (you are here) : I list my own site to illustrate what can be done with database integration customized to meet your own needs. I keep track of all my clients, all their projects, what they owe me, what they've paid me, the work I do for them and my own expenses. Clients can print out an invoice that I've coded to be automatically generated and which I can email to them at the click of button. The great thing about database integration is that once you have the information stored in a database you can use it in literally a hundred different ways and more. Clients can log in to see the work I'm doing on their site and check their balances. I've also coded an end of the year tax invoice which will list everything they've paid me in any year they choose.
The Corporate Asylum: Satire and Commentary for Discerning Employees: This is a large, basic HTML site that also has FLASH animations, some JavaScript Programming and is largely written by me (under the pseudonym, The Inmate).
Native Talk: This is a database integrated site using PHP and MySQL. Visitors can sign up to join the mailing list. Users with administrative access can send emails to everyone who has signed up. Users also have the option to remove themselves from the mailing list.
